Quectel FCM365X IoT Module with Wi-Fi 6 and BLE 5.4
The Quectel FCM365X is a short-range IoT module based on the NXP RW612 wireless MCU, featuring dual-band Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth Low Energy 5.4, and 802.15.4 for Zigbee and Thread connectivity. With dimensions of 25.5 x 18.0 mm, the module operates in a wide temperature range from -40 °C to +85 °C, making it suitable for Smart Home and industrial IoT applications. It has an 8MB flash memory and exposes interfaces for GPIO, SDIO, UART, USB, and more. Firmware development is supported via an SDK, and it supports multiple communication protocols like Matter. Two development boards have been recently announced.
Critical Analysis
The Quectel FCM365X stands out for its advanced communication capabilities and support for various IoT protocols. However, the lack of AT-command-based firmware and the availability only through an SDK may pose a barrier for less experienced developers. The introduction of specific development options is a positive move, but it is crucial for Quectel to provide adequate details and support.
